ROLE OF IQAC
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) holds a pivotal role in ensuring and augmenting the quality of education and overall performance within Dr.Samuel George Institute of Engineering & Technology (SGIT).
Here are its key functions:
Quality Assurance: Developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to uphold and advance the Quality of Education, Research and Services provided by the institution.
Accreditation Preparation and Compliance: Coordinating the preparation of self-study reports and requisite documentation for accreditation processes, ensuring alignment with external accrediting bodies’ standards and criteria.
Performance Evaluation: Supervising the assessment of academic and administrative performance indicators to discern Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) facilitating data-driven decisions for continual enhancement.
Feedback Mechanism: Establishing and managing feedback mechanisms to gather input from diverse stakeholders, utilizing feedback to gauge satisfaction levels, pinpoint areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
Academic Development and Review: Collaborating with academic departments to, learning outcomes, and teaching methodologies to maintain relevance, currency, and alignment with industry requirements and global benchmarks.
Professional Development: Organizing faculty development programs, workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enrich the skills, competencies, and pedagogical practices of faculty members, thereby enhancing overall teaching and learning processes.
Institutional Research and Innovation: Cultivating a culture of research and innovation by encouraging faculty and students to engage in research endeavors, interdisciplinary collaborations, and projects addressing societal challenges and contributing to knowledge creation.
Best Practice Promotion: Identifying, documenting, and advocating best practices in teaching, research, governance, and administration within the institution to facilitate knowledge sharing and replication of successful initiatives across departments and disciplines.
Quality Monitoring and Audit: Conducting internal audits, reviews, and quality assessments to monitor the efficacy of quality assurance mechanisms and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory mandates.
External Collaboration and Networking: Establishing partnerships and collaborations with other HEIs, industry stakeholders, government agencies, and professional bodies to exchange best practices, share resources, and bolster the institution’s reputation and visibility.
Information Dissemination: Disseminating information regarding quality assurance policies, procedures, guidelines, and outcomes through various communication channels such as the institution’s website, newsletters, workshops, and seminars.
Continuous Improvement Culture: Fostering a culture of continual improvement by promoting proactive problem-solving, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making at all levels of the institution.
