ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1997. The Mechanical Engineering department is one of the pioneer departments of SGIT. As on today 24 batches passed out with excellent academic performance. Department of Mechanical Engineering also offers post-graduate programme (M.Tech) in Thermal Engineering from the year 2014. The department has excellent lab facilities such as Engineering Workshop, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids and Metallurgy, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines, Manufacturing Processes, Machine Tools, Thermal Engineering, Heat Transfer, CAE & CAM, CFD, Measurements & Metrology, Mechatronics and Theory of Machines with state of the art equipment and it has highly qualified, experienced and committed faculty members. The department takes active role in arranging expert lectures as well as industrial visits for benift of the students. The department gives importance not only to academic education but also ethical values and personality development of students. National level student symposium is conducted in every year. Students are encouraged to take up industrial projects. More over the students will also be motivated to present papers in student seminars, paper contests etc. The department is also actively involved in placement of the students through ON/OFF campus interviews. The department strives hard to impart quality education and to keep the students on the competitive edge of the present day technology.
